**Device Payment Plan

To use the service, you will need a Skymesh-supplied device and SIM. The 4G Modem costs $264 and the 5G Modem costs $888. However, we will cover the cost of the device if you remain connected for 24 months on a Device Payment Plan (DPP). During the 24-month term of the DPP, your monthly device payments ($11 for the 4G Modem and $37 for the 5G Modem) will be reduced by a prorated, monthly credit.

You will need to remain on an eligible access plan for the term of your DPP. If you cancel your eligible plan or move to an ineligible plan before the expiry of your DPP, your DPP will be cancelled and you’ll need to pay out the remaining device payments in full, as a once-of payment), and any applicable device credits or discounts will be forfeited. This is subject to your Australian Consumer Law rights.

The Remaining Device Payment Fee is calculated as the monthly fee for the device multiplied by the number of remaining months. For example, if you were to cancel with 6 months remaining on the DPP for the Home 4G Modem, the fee would be calculated as $11/month x 6 months which is $66.

What You Need To Know About 4G Home Internet

You may have come across 4G home internet and wonder if it’s the answer to your connectivity conundrum.

We get it – the agony of waiting for nbn® to finally reach your area. But this doesn’t always mean you have to sit idly, inconvenienced by connectivity delays.

As your trusted regional internet service provider of award-winning plans, we’ve seen how technologies like 4G can help bridge the digital divide across diverse landscapes here at Skymesh. Read along to learn more about how it promises seamless connectivity for regional Australian households.

Getting to know 4G home internet

How does 4G home internet work?

4G, representing the fourth-generation wireless, is a powerful step ahead of its predecessor, 3G. This advanced network boasts not only swifter data rates but also a more efficient utilisation of the radio frequency spectrum.

Both 4G and 5G home internet are closely similar to your mobile data, seamlessly bridging your household with the world without the need for cables or satellites. A 4G signal, emanating from a tower, directly communicates with a receiver positioned at your home. This signal is then converted by a device, delivering that familiar Wi-Fi comfort straight to your mobiles, laptops, and other gadgets.

How fast is 4G internet?

The speed of 4G broadband plans varies. The first factor you have to consider is the specific plan you’ll subscribe to.

Skymesh is dedicated to offering 4G home wireless internet solutions to regional Australians. Our package offers typical download speeds of up to 20 Mbps.

Nonetheless, several factors can influence the speed. This includes the quality of your modem and router. Additionally, the more devices connected simultaneously and your proximity to the nearest tower can also impact the speed you experience.

What are the advantages of 4G home internet?

The world of home internet solutions is vast, but 4G has marked its territory with distinct advantages.

At Skymesh, we pride ourselves on offering 4G (and 5G) internet packages with unlimited data, empowering you to surf without limits. Moreover, 4G home internet is an excellent alternative to nbn® plans, especially for regional Aussie families outside the nbn® coverage area who want reliable internet coverage.

Its broad reach ensures that more individuals, from apartments to countryside cottages, get reliable connections. But keep in mind that availability still depends on your location. Use our platform to check your address and see the plans offered in your area.

Will 4G home internet be enough for me?

Well, it boils down to your speed preferences, data consumption and online activities.

Casual users, who stick to general browsing, some social media scrolling, and sending the occasional email, will likely find 4G more than sufficient. Heavy internet users, who like to play demanding online games and stream 4K videos, will prefer 5G providing it is available at their address.

Keen to explore if 4G is a good option for you? Our Brisbane-based tech experts are just a call away, eager to guide you through the internet plans tailored to your lifestyle. They can answer all your questions regarding topics about this plan such as 4G vs 5G, or even questions about our other offerings such as ‘What’s the best 5G home internet?’ and ‘is there a 5G business internet?’

Securing your 4G home connectioninstal

Do I need a special router for 4G home internet?

For a smooth sail on the 4G network, a specialised device is typically the ticket. However, your internet service provider often dictates the router specifics.

Here at Skymesh, when you subscribe to our 4G home internet plan, we’ll provide you with a Wi-Fi modem for a straightforward plug-and-play connection.

Is installing a 4G home internet complicated?

Simplicity is the name of the game when it comes to 4G internet installation.

The procedure is straightforward: just plug in your device, and voila, you’re online! This user-friendly approach makes 4G a favourite, especially for those areas where fixed lines and satellite coverage are yet to be available.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is 4G more affordable than other internet packages?

The cost of 4G home internet can be more affordable than some other options. However, it still hinges on the internet service providers and the specific package you opt for. Whether you’re seeking fast internet or wide internet coverage, it’s essential to opt for a plan that fits your budget.

Are there 4G home internet options that only include data?

Absolutely! If you’ve already got the likes of cable or telephone sorted and you’re looking exclusively for internet, Skymesh has got you covered. We specialise in streamlined home internet solutions, eliminating the fluff and focusing on what matters: seamless connectivity.

How does 4G compare to broadband?

We know it may get confusing when you come across terms like ‘4G vs nbn®’ and ‘5G vs nbn®’. There are various varied types of nbn® connections:

  • Fixed Line: Uses high-speed fibre optic cables and nodes, ensuring broadband is smoothly delivered.
  • Fixed Wireless: Radio signals combined with outdoor antennas wirelessly connect your premises to the nbn® network.
  • Satellite: Two state-of-the-art satellites in space connect with a roof satellite dish installed in your roof to grant you access to the internet.

On the other hand, 4G serves as a wireless internet connection that works similarly to mobile data. It leans on wireless network towers for internet delivery, bypassing the need for cables or satellites.

Depending on your location, we could connect you through different nbn® connection types. But if you’re located outside of nbn’s coverage area, our 4G and 5G options could be great alternatives if available in your premises.
