What happens when I switch providers?

If you're switching from another provider, we'll ask for the AVC number for your current nbn® service when you order.

In simple terms, an AVC is a 15 character ID to identify your service and can typically be found on your current supplier's invoice. Once we receive this from you, we'll arrange the transfer and explain what happens next via a series of emails.

Where the nbn® equipment is already installed and ready, your new service can be activated remotely without the need for an nbn® technician appointment.

Will my home phone still work?

Skymesh Voice (VoIP) runs alongside an internet service rather than replacing it. What's available, and whether extra equipment is needed, depends on your address and plan. Skymesh VoIP plans are not currently available to order alongside new services.

Can I get help setting up my internet?

Yes. Standard installation is free* (nbn® charges may apply for non-standard installations), and technician visits are carried out by an nbn®-accredited installer. Our technical support team is available 7 days a week, including public holidays, to help.

Where your address already has the nbn® equipment installed and ready, we can often activate your service remotely, with no technician visit. If an nbn® technician does need to attend, we arrange the appointment as part of your order.

Sky Muster® Satellite works differently. For that technology, nbn® contacts you directly to arrange a time.

If you're switching from another provider, we'll need the AVC number for your current nbn® service. Once we have the details we need, we'll manage the transfer and talk you through what happens next.

Equipment you'll need

You'll need a Wi-Fi router to connect your devices at home.

A router you already own can often do the job. Whether it suits you depends on its age and the plan you choose, so call our team on 1300 759 637 if you're not sure. As a general guide, a router more than five years old may use older Wi-Fi standards and may not support the speed or reliability of newer plans.

If you do need one, Skymesh supplies two Wi-Fi routers, the Tenda V12 and the NF20Mesh. Both are plug-and-play for self-installation, with free shipping and a 3-year advance replacement warranty.

Plug-and-play means you connect the router to the nbn® connection box and follow the setup card that comes with it. If you'd rather be walked through it, our support team can help over the phone.

Separately, you will need an nbn® connection box installed. This is supplied by nbn®, not by Skymesh. If you do not currently have nbn® installed at your property, our team can help arrange the installation.

Installation and support

Standard installation is free* (nbn® charges may apply for non-standard installations). Technician visits are carried out by an nbn®-accredited installer, and for most technology types we can book the appointment for you over the phone. Sky Muster® Satellite is an exception, where nbn® will contact you directly to arrange a suitable time.
