What should I look for in a fibre optic internet provider?
Start with your exact address. The nbn® technology type available at your premises affects the Skymesh plans you can order.
Enter your address on our website and you’ll see the internet plans available to you. Our team can also talk you through the options.
If your address is not recognised or is listed differently, contact Skymesh. We’ll raise a free address query with nbn®. Sometimes nbn® has a property listed under a different name, or may not have a record of it yet. We can help get the address added so you can order an nbn® service.
Users and devices
Different plans cater to different households. To properly compare Skymesh internet plans, consider how many people and devices are likely to be online at the same time and what they use the connection for. Video calls, streaming, gaming and large downloads can place different demands on a household connection.
The plan that suits you may depend on how your household uses the internet, not simply the highest speed available.
Speed and what it means
Skymesh fibre plans are available at a range of speeds, and understanding what those speeds mean in practice can help you choose the right option for your household or small business.
As a general guide, lower-speed plans are well suited to one or two people browsing, streaming and emailing. Mid-range plans offer more capacity for households using several devices at once, while higher-speed plans provide extra headroom for busy homes where people may be working from home, joining video calls, streaming and downloading large files at the same time.
Keep in mind that the speed you actually experience can vary. Factors such as the nbn® technology available at your premises, the number of people online, network capacity, Wi-Fi conditions and your own hardware can all affect performance. For example, a device connected directly to your router with an Ethernet cable will typically achieve faster speeds than the same device using Wi-Fi from another room.
To compare plans, see our nbn® 25 plans, nbn® 50 plans and nbn® 100 plans. For current speed information, see our nbn® Fibre plans page.
Budget
The monthly price is only one part of the overall cost of an internet plan. It’s also worth considering any setup fees, equipment costs, and plan-change or cancellation terms that may apply.
If keeping costs down is a priority, start with our cheap internet plans guide, then check your address to see which Skymesh plans are available at your property.
Each Skymesh plan has a Critical Information Summary, which outlines key details such as charges, the minimum monthly cost, and how advertised speed figures are calculated. You can use the Critical Information Summary and Key Facts Sheet to compare plans and decide which nbn® Fibre option offers the right balance of speed and cost for your household.
How much does fibre internet cost in Australia monthly?
Pricing depends on the plan available at your address. Check your address first, then review available Skymesh plans and the Critical Information Summary for pricing, inclusions and terms.
Eligible customers may receive free standard installation (nbn® charges may apply for non-standard installations). Terms, conditions, and eligibility apply.
What should I consider when choosing a fibre optic internet provider?
A provider is more than a monthly price. Consider the support available, contract terms, hardware costs and how plan changes are handled.

What’s included with every plan
Every Skymesh fibre plan comes with free standard installation* (nbn® charges may apply for non-standard installations), no lock-in contract and no demand surcharges. Plans run on 30-day terms, so you can leave by giving 30 days’ notice rather than being held to a longer agreement.

If your household’s needs change, you can request a fibre plan change at any time, with no administration fee to request the change. The Skymesh address checker also shows whether a technology upgrade may be available at your property.

Have Questions?
Frequently asked questions
Is fibre internet better than the nbn®?
Fibre is part of the nbn® network, not an alternative to it. FTTP, FTTB, FTTC, FTTN and HFC are nbn® Fixed Line technology types. nbn® determines the technology type available at your address. Of the nbn® Fixed Line technology types, FTTP is the only one where fibre runs directly to the premises, without copper or coaxial cabling for the final part of the connection.
Is there a seniors discount on nbn® plans?
Senior plans are available to customers aged 60 and over. Senior plans are only available on 25/5Mbps plans. Not available with any other offers, including our 6-month discount promotion. Terms and Conditions apply.
See our seniors’ plans page for current options, then call our team on 1300 759 637 to order.
Can I switch fibre providers without a new installation?
A new installation may not be needed if the required nbn® equipment is already installed. If you are moving to Skymesh, our team can confirm what applies at your address and explain the changeover process.
What happens to my connection while I switch providers?
The changeover process and any resulting interruption can vary. If you are moving to Skymesh, ask our team what applies before disconnecting your existing service so you can plan the switch.
Do I need a router for fibre optic internet?
You may be able to use your existing router, depending on its age, capability and the plan you choose. If you need a new one, see the Skymesh Wi-Fi router options page.
