The following information will assist you to register with us to help transcribe the Birth, Death & Marriage Index of England & Wales which commenced 1 July 1837
Please read ALL the information before registering — if you have any queries, please email me using the link at the bottom of this page
Having basic computer skills (attaching files to emails, locating files on your hard drive, uploading files etc) is required
Immediately after registering, email me to let me know if you want Handwritten or Typed/Printed scans to transcribe
Include which operating system & email program you are using as that will help us resolve any issues if you run into problems

Click here to get the 2 programs you will need — WinBMD & BMD Verify
Apple Mac or Linux users, there are programs for you instead of WinBMD
Unfortunately there is no equivalent of BMD Verify
All the information you need to begin transcribing — how to set up the Header etc is found by clicking on the appropriate link to the left
If you have previously transcribed for FreeBMD in any other Syndicate but now wish to join Western Oz Synd, please do NOT re-register
Email me your old Submitter ID & I will get that one re-activated
If you have forgotten your previous password, that can be taken care of too |
