
PDF for the Uninitiated
PDF is the standard for viewing electronic documents. PDF is short for Portable Document Format. Most State and Federal documents available in PDF. Once you have Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader installed all you need to do is click on the PDF file and it automatically opens. Yes, it is that simple. It would be wise to obtain the latest version of Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader to take advantage of the newest features. It's free from Adobe and Foxit Software for any platform or operating system! Using a PDF file allows you to magnify (to make the text larger) or decrease the viewing size (to allow more text on the screen) by using the magnifying tool; or fast forward or fast return to any page in seconds by using the arrows at the bottom of the page you are viewing. By using your own printer you can easily print 1 page, a group of pages. Printing a PDF file does not alter or change the original format. You can also copy and paste the entire document into your favorite word processor (which does change the formatting somewhat). There are a host of other features such as the hand tool which allows you to position the page on your screen just the way you like to read.
